The resources of this sight, centered on the biblical teaching of Dr. Andy Brown, are intended to showcase Romans 10:17 - Faith comes by hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.

Why Hearing is Believing?

The Bible says faith comes by hearing and hearing through the word of Christ. Faith, according to Hebrews, is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things unseen. Our empirical culture places a high value upon seeing. Jesus said to a disciple filled with doubts after hearing from the others who had seen the resurrected Jesus that he would not believe unless he sees the nail marks and places his finger in the nail-pierced hands of Jesus. Further, he said, unless he puts his hand into his side, he would never believe. Eight days later, when the disciples were inside again, and the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood amongst them. He said to the doubter, “Put your finger here, and see my hands; and put out your hand, and place it in my side. Do not disbelieve, but believe.” Thomas answered him, “My Lord and my God.” Jesus said to him, “Have you believed because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.” Before this, as Jesus was facing crucifixion, Jesus prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane for those who would hear and believe, “Sanctify them in truth, your word is truth; your word is truth… I do not ask for [the disciples] only but for those who will believe in me through their word… Those who believe in Jesus through the Word of the Apostles are us who hear and believe.

Hearing is believing.
